Oklahoma Real ID Information

Driver's Licenses and IDs

Applicant must appear before a Driver License Examiner and furnish both primary and secondary documentary proofs of identity, proof of full legal name and birth date, and proof of legal presence in the United States.

Oklahoma Real ID (3 Forms of ID - Must have all 3)

1. You will need to provide proof of identity/lawful presence in the U.S. The document must be an original or a certified copy. Notarized documents are not accepted. Please select one (1) document from the list below:
  1. State-Issued Birth Certificate
  2. Unexpired U.S. Passport
  3. Unexpired Permanent Resident Card
  4. Unexpired Employment Authorization Card
  5. Valid, unexpired foreign passport with a valid, unexpired U.S. visa and valid I-94 issued by DHS
  6. Naturalization Certificate
  7. Consular Report of Birth Abroad
  8. Certificate of Citizenship
2. You must provide proof of your Social Security number. The document must be an original or a certified copy. Notarized documents are not accepted. Please select one (1) document from the list below:
  1. Current W-2 or 1099 showing full Social Security number
  2. Current pay stub showing full Social Security number
  3. Social Security Card
  4. Non-SSA 1099 form
3. You must provide two (2) proofs of your current Oklahoma address. Both your name and current residential address must appear on the documents. Junk mail or personal letters will not be accepted. Forwarded mail will not be accepted. Please bring two (2) documents from the list below::
  1. Copy of previous year’s federal or Oklahoma tax return filing
  2. Utility bill (electric, telephone [home or cell], water, sewer, cable, satellite, heating oil or propane provider)
  3. Installment loan contract from a bank or other financial institution (payday loan company documents are not accepted)
  4. Current deed, mortgage, monthly mortgage statement, or a residential lease
  5. Property tax bill or receipt dated within the last 12 months
  6. Professional license issued by an Oklahoma governmental agency
  7. Certified copy of court order
  8. Valid concealed carry permit
  9. Current Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor (J-1) Status (DS-2019) W-2 wage or 1099 tax form from previous year
  10. Social Security Administration (SSA) document with Oklahoma street address, dated within the last 12 months
  11. Oklahoma high school, college, university or technology center transcript for current school year or semester
  12. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) letter or TWIC card
  13. Oklahoma boat title or registration
  14. Oklahoma motor vehicle title or registration
  15. Sales tax or business license
  16. Current homeowner or renter insurance policy or statement
  17. Public assistance benefit card and correspondence dated within past 12 months
  18. Correspondence from Oklahoma state agency or federal agency with current address, dated within last 12 months (not forwarded)
  19. Current and valid life insurance or automobile liability policy or card with address
  20. Current documents issued by U.S. military
  21. Oklahoma agriculture exemption permit card (farm tax permit) Pilot’s license
  22. Oklahoma voter registration card
  23. Any item delivered by the United States Postal Service, FedEx, or UPS sent by a verifiable business or government agency
  24. For a minor, a DPS Shared Residency Form, completed by a parent or legal guardian living at the same residence address
  25. For a minor, a residency document in their parents’ name by presenting a tracing document (such as a birth certificate) showing the relationship
  26. School enrollment records
  27. A letter from a homeless shelter, transitional service provider or a halfway house verifying they receive mail for the customer. The letter must be accompanied by a Certification of Address form

You will be given a temporary paper identification during your visit to get a REAL ID. Your official REAL ID will be mailed to you in 5-7 business days.

First Time Licenses/IDs

  1. Applicant must bring Primary ID. (Usually a State Certified Birth Certificate)
  2. Applicant must bring Secondary ID. (Usually a Social Security Card)
  3. Applicant must provide Social Security Number.
  4. Applicant must bring in any documents showing a legal name change: Such as Marriage, Adoption, Divorce etc: These documents should connect all of the last names from the birth certificate to the current last name.
  5. Bring valid proof of auto liability insurance if you are taking the driving test. (Security Verification Form)
  6. Driver's Licenses cost $38.50, IDs cost $25.00

Once the Examiner has accepted the documents and processed the applicant a Vision test, Written Test and Skills (Driving) test are required. If you feel you are not ready to do the Driving test you can get a Learner Permit. This will allow you to practice driving as long as a Licensed Operator over the age of 21 who has had a license for at least 2 years, is in the front seat beside you. Over the age of 18 if you get a Learner Permit you must hold it for a minimum of 30 days.

License/ID Renewals

  1. For most renewals, bring in your old license/ID
  2. Driver's Licenses cost $38.50, IDs cost $25.00
  3. If you've lost your old license or ID, call us and we can tell you what needs to be done to replace it.
  4. If your license or ID has been expired for more than 12 months, you're going to need to bring in your original birth certificate.
